SFIC celebrates community and raises $80K for Catholic education
The Scholarship Fund for Inner-City Children (SFIC) recently hosted its fourth annual Family Fun Day at the West Orange Pavilion, drawing 235 guests to a memorable celebration. This year, the event raised an impressive $80,000 for Catholic education tuition assistance, surpassing last year’s total. This achievement underscores SFIC’s unwavering commitment to ensuring access to Catholic education for all.
The annual event is not only a fundraiser but also a joyous end-of-school-year celebration that unites the SFIC community.
“This is a wonderful way to bring together the families who benefit from the fund for an afternoon of family bonding, good food, great fun, and lots of cute animals,” said Daisy Espana, SFIC’s Director of Special Events.
Family Fun Day commenced with a lively walkathon around the West Orange Pavilion, then followed by a barbeque featuring an array of dishes, including chicken, ribs, beans, corn, and potato salad. Guests also enjoyed treats such as cotton candy and popcorn. Families departed with complimentary SFIC swag, including t-shirts and baseball caps, as a token of appreciation for their participation.
According to Espana, the highlight of the day was watching families revel in the festivities and create lasting good memories.
SFIC has awarded 1,900 scholarships to economically disadvantaged children attending private and parochial schools in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, and Union counties for the fiscal year 2023-2024.
