Obituaries for June 2025
Let us pray for our dearly departed religious whose Masses of Christian Burial were held in May.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon them.

Sister Jane Feltz, MPF

Born in Ardmore, Oklahoma, she was raised in Maywood, New Jersey. Sister Jane entered the Religious Teachers Filippini in 1962, received the habit in 1963, and offered her perpetual oblation in 1969.
After earning her BS degree in secondary education with a concentration in science from Seton Hall University in South Orange, she was awarded an MS in educational administration and supervision from Fordham University in New York.
Sister Jane served as a classroom teacher, principal, and assistant superintendent for curriculum in the Diocese of Paterson. She was the Vocation Director and Mission Director for the Province of Saint Lucy, a campus minister at William Paterson University in Wayne, and an Early Childhood Instructor at Passaic County Community College in Paterson.
She offered her assistance at Saint Joseph by the Sea Retreat House in South Mantoloking and coordinated community and spiritual life activities at Saint Joseph Hall Infirmary. Sister Jane was also appointed local convent superior and served as a delegate to the community’s provincial chapters.
Sister Jane is predeceased by her parents, Carmine and Miriam (Domnik) Feltz. She is survived by her sisters Lynda Fields, Nancy Paparazzo, and Mary Elizabeth LaFaso, and by several nieces and nephews.
Sister Mary Patricia Reid, OP

Born in Newark, Sister Mary Patricia entered the Sisters of Saint Dominic in 1960 and made her final profession in 1969. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Caldwell University, followed by a Master of Arts degree in ceramics from Eastern Michigan University. Her vocation was devoted to inspiring creativity and learning.
As a teacher, she served Saint Mary School in Wharton, Saint Theresa School in Kenilworth, Lacordaire Academy in Upper Montclair, Saint Matthew School in Ridgefield, Saint Mary School in Rutherford, and Marylawn of the Oranges in South Orange. She was also a teacher and assistant at Aquinas Academy in Livingston and a substitute teacher for South Orange Public Schools in South Orange.
Mary Pat served as a staff artist at Genesis Farm in Blairstown, where she focused on integrating spirituality and ecological awareness. She was also a member of the Dominican Institute for the Arts (DIA), a “grassroots collaboration of sisters, friars, laity and associates of the Order of Preachers… committed to preaching through the arts.” Sister Mary Pat served as the DIA secretary and coordinated membership for the group.
Sister Reid was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Margaret Reid; her sister, Kathleen Reid St. Clair; her brother, Donald Reid; and her sister-in-law, Mary Katherine Reid. She is survived by her sisters, Sister Margaret Reid, a Missionary Sister of the Immaculate Conception of the Mother of God, and Susan (Joe) McGovern; her sister-in-law, Pat Reid; and her brothers, Robert Reid and Frank (Mary) Reid; and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
