Marriage anniversaries celebrated with special Mass at Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart

This past Sunday, Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin, C.Ss.R. celebrated a Mass for marriage anniversaries of five and 25 years at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark. Cardinal Tobin spoke before dozens of couples and their accompanying families, blessing their marriages with a special message: in a society full of distractions that tempt us to say “no” to people, these enduring marriages are a testament to the power of saying “yes” and sacrificing for one another.

After the Mass, the couples lined up in the aisle to receive a blessed pin from Cardinal Tobin, commemorating their anniversary. (Photos by Joe Jordan for the Archdiocese of Newark).

Upcoming: there will be an anniversary Mass for couples celebrating 50 years of marriage on Sunday, March 15 at 3 p.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart. Cardinal Tobin will be the celebrant. For more information, contact the Family Life ministry at familylife.org@rcan.org.
