Local screening of Father Fichter’s film on three young men’s call to the priesthood
Caldwell University is inviting the community to a free screening of the film “Trinity’s Triumph ”on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. followed by a Q&A session with producer and writer of the film Father Stephen Fichter.
Emmy and SAG award-winning actor Joe Morton is Monsignor Heck in “Trinity’s Triumph”. It is a story of three young men who enter the seminary guided by their wise and lovable mentor Heck. What starts as a single mission for all three men, becomes divided, and they each find that they must decide what God is asking of them. Several scenes in the movie were filmed on Caldwell’s campus.
Father Fichter, pastor at Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Church in Wyckoff and the Episcopal Vicar of Education for the Archdiocese of Newark, said “Trinity’s Triumph is a modern, behind-the-scenes look at life in the priesthood. Often, people only interact with a priest at a baptism, wedding, or funeral. They might see them in town, at a restaurant, or visiting someone in the hospital. For the most part, priests are part of the everyday landscape, but generally not very known well as individuals. Priests have their struggles just like everyone else.”
Father Fichter said he is excited to return to Caldwell University’s beautiful campus where they filmed “Trinity’s Triumph” back in the summer of 2019. “Our entire cast and crew were so grateful for the warm reception that we received from everyone at the university and from the Caldwell Dominican Sisters. One of my favorite scenes in the movie takes place in the Motherhouse chapel.”
Father began working on the film over two decades ago and updated it over the years to make it reflect the times. He said he treasures the professional input he received as the script was being developed from film and stage director and producer Franco Zeffirelli and best-selling author Mary Higgins Clark. Father wrote the film with Kathe Carson and Michael J. Wickham.
The event will take place in the Alumni Theatre at Caldwell University.
