From the Archives: Deaf History Month, 1959
Archbishop Boland presided at the formal opening of the Union County Center for the Mount Carmel Guild Apostolate for the Deaf on March 1, 1959 at St. Michael’s Church in Elizabeth. Rev. John P. Hourihan interpreted Archbishop Boland’s remarks and delivered the sermon in American Sign Language.
