Sister Pia Jude, S.V., enters community of Sisters of Life
Six Sisters of Life professed perpetual vows on the Feast of the Transfiguration, Aug. 6, 2021, at a Mass celebrated by His Eminence Timothy Cardinal Dolan at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York, N.Y. The six entered the postulancy of the Sisters of Life in the fall of 2013.
Sister Pia Jude, S.V., 37, is the daughter of Judy and Peter Furka of Secaucus, N.J. The Furkas are long-time parishioners of Immaculate Conception Church of Secaucus. She has an identical twin sister, Sister Luca Benedict, also a Sister of Life. Before entering, Sister Pia Jude and her sister served their parish as Youth Ministers from 2002 to 2005.
Sister Pia Jude earned a Juris Doctorate from Rutgers School of Law in Camden, N.J., in 2008, and a B.A. in English and Philosophy from St. Peter’s University in Jersey City, N.J., in 2005. She worked as an associate in the litigation department of Fried Frank law firm in Manhattan before entering the Sisters of Life. Sister Pia Jude has served in various missions of the community, including college outreach in Denver, the Archdiocese of New York Respect Life Office, the Coworkers of Life Mission, and, for the past year, at the Motherhouse assisting in special projects for the community.
