From the Archives: Pilgrims Depart from Newark Airport, 1964
As members of the First Saturday Club of the Archdiocese of Newark prepared to depart on a pilgrimage to the shrines of Canada, they attended a Mass in the terminal of Newark Airport on July 30, 1964. The First Saturday Club was founded by Mary Varick of Newark as a group for people with disabilities to gather monthly for Mass, lunch, and conversation.
