From the Archives: Our Lady of Czestochowa in Harrison, 1910
Parishioners of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Harrison stand in front of the original church in 1910. Polish Catholics living in Harrison initially traveled to St. Stanislaus Parish in Newark to attend Mass in Polish. In 1908, they successfully petitioned to build a Polish church in Harrison.
The original church was destroyed by a fire in 1927. The present church and school were built on the same site and opened in 1929.
