Catholic Schools Week 2025: United in faith and community
Catholic schools across the Archdiocese of Newark will come together from Jan. 26 to Feb. 1 to celebrate Catholic Schools Week 2025. This special time is an opportunity to reflect not only on the faith, love, and sense of community that make Catholic education so impactful but also on the grace of the Jubilee Year, a time of renewal and hope. The schools will mark the week with Masses, prayer services, academic contests, assemblies, and open houses, welcoming families and friends to experience the joy of Catholic education.
In a heartfelt message to the school community, Father Stephen Fichter, Ph.D., Episcopal Vicar of Education, and Barbara Dolan, Superintendent of Catholic Schools, emphasized the deep bond shared among Catholic schools. “The sixty-seven Catholic school communities in the Archdiocese of Newark are connected by a common purpose: to nurture students’ spiritual, academic, and personal growth in an environment rooted in faith,” they wrote.
With nearly 22,000 students enrolled, Catholic schools strive to create a welcoming environment where faith and learning go hand in hand. Students grow academically and develop a sense of purpose through service projects, parish involvement, and outreach to those in need.
Fichter and Dolan also spoke of the unity that strengthens Catholic education. “The focus shifts from ‘my school’ to ‘our Catholic schools,’ as they collaborate to strengthen Catholic education,” they wrote. Whether celebrating achievements, offering support in difficult times, or simply praying for one another, these schools are bound by a shared mission.
