Archdiocese of Newark’s Mercy House to host Faith & Family Fun Day on July 23

All are welcome at free event featuring food, games, and activities

Mercy House, the Archdiocese of Newark’s resource and referral center located within the Clinton Hill section of Newark, will present its first Faith & Family Fun Day on Friday, July 23, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

All are invited to the free event, which will feature food, games, face painting, and more activities enjoyable for every age.

“We wanted to do something special for the local community after a challenging year of staying at home due to the pandemic,” said Cheryl Riley, director of the Archdiocese’s Respect Life Office. “This is a chance for the kids to get out, have fun, and learn more about Mercy House and the resources we have to offer.”

Though all are welcome to the event regardless of their religious denomination, archdiocesan priests will attend to answer questions and speak with interested visitors about faith-related matters. Visitors also can learn about the Catholic mission of Mercy House by observing it in action.

“This is what we’re all about as a community of faith,” Riley said. “We are called to love each other as Jesus does. We are doing this to help boost morale in the community and to let people know we care about them.”

Faith & Family Fun Day is a chance for people to learn more about Mercy House, which recently celebrated its third anniversary. The archdiocesan resource and referral center provides food, clothing, baby supplies, furniture, and help finding work and housing to individuals and families in need. Mercy House also offers spiritual support and healing in a faith-filled environment.
