From the Archives: Archbishop Walsh and the 1936 Seminary Fundraiser
Archbishop Walsh stands with the Immaculate Conception Seminary Choir at their performance for WOR Radio, November 8, 1936. The performance was part of a fundraising campaign to raise money for the construction of a seminary building at Darlington in Bergen County, which would become Immaculate Conception Seminary’s home until 1981 when it moved back to South Orange. The fundraising drive was initiated on October 25, 1936 and by November 16th it had exceeded its goal, raising over $2 million for the construction.
