E.A. Seton Meets G.K. Chesterton: What They Might Say About Catholic Higher Education Today.
As part of Seton Hall’s Charter Day celebrations on Tuesday, April 8, the Center for Catholic Studies and the G.K. Chesterton Institute for Faith & Culture will host a thought-provoking discussion on the state of Catholic higher education today, viewed through the perspectives of two monumental figures in Catholic theology and education: G.K. Chesterton and Elizabeth Ann Seton. The program takes place in the University Center, 2nd Floor, Room 206.
Dermot Quinn, D.Phil., a historian at Seton Hall University, will offer insights into the thought and influence of G.K. Chesterton. Catherine O’Donnell, Ph.D., a historian at Arizona State University and author of the award-winning biography Elizabeth Seton: American Saint, will bring the perspective of Mother Seton to the conversation. The discussion will be moderated by Patrick Manning, Ph.D., associate professor of pastoral theology and director of the Center for Catholic Studies at Seton Hall.
Join us for this engaging dialogue on the enduring impact of these two figures and their relevance to Catholic higher education today. There will also be a book signing with Catherine O’Donnell immediately before this program for those who are interested in meeting the author.
